If Adalyn is smiling and not looking at the camera, it’s a safe bet that she is watching Tangled. She ADORES that movie. Tonight, she quoted more lines from the script than Mommy or Daddy thought she knew. Daddy then proceeded to “sing” another song and she quickly said, “Noooo Daddy, that’s Cinderella…” Then she proceeded to sing the song Daddy started. Love this little stinker!
Hunter had his two month pediatric check up last week. Unfortunately, with this visit came shots. The little guy initially reacted as you would expect, crying briefly until being held and comforted by mommy. But all-in-all he seemed fine afterward. On the ride home he even fell asleep. Adalyn went with mommy to the doctor’s visit and was an angel as well. The worst wouldn’t happen until after they all got home and Hunter woke up. He was inconsolable. He appeared to be in a lot of pain and didn’t want anything to do with a bottle, a SURE sign something wasn’t right. Kayla immediately called the doctor and was advised that this is “normal” and that some kids have mild reactions to the shots but that it would all go away soon. Kayla called me at work and let me know what was going on. I could hear Hunter crying in the background. I immediately left work to come and help but by the time I got there Hunter seemed to have calmed down. He was sleeping good by then but I could tell Kayla had a hard time getting him that way. Luckily Hunter’s mood only improved and by the next morning he was back to his happy mellow self again. Adalyn has always taken shots like a champ. As a matter of fact, the last series of shots she got, she didn’t even cry?! It was shocking to see Hunter so uncomfortable. Especially since we weren’t used to shots having this kind of effect. Just goes to show how each kid is different. But, at the same time, it really keeps things interesting! 🙂
Hunter is two months old! We’re so proud of this little stinker. He’s growing like a champ (90th percentile last check up) and Mommy and Daddy get excited every time we get to witness him hit a new development milestone. Hunter is sleeping on average about 5 hours at night, giving Mommy the extra sleep she needs. He’s cooing and giving us smiles and certainly…”reacts”…every time his sister comes near him to give him a kiss on the cheek. We are scheduled to go in for his pediatric 2 month check up tomorrow where we’re expecting nothing but good news. We just love this little guy to pieces.
We’re an Apple family. We…Okay…I…may even brink on the edge of Apple fan-boy. Ever since being introduced to the Mac I’ve always wanted to code my own app for the platform, specifically iOS (the iPhone and iPad). For years I’ve been on an almost cyclical routine of learning all I can about programming for the Mac, only to get side-tracked by something else before I could actually produce something interesting. So, while I was on paternity leave I decided to give it one more go. It was the perfect time. I was often up late at night holding or feeding our precious baby boy and didn’t have much else to do. So I took an online course, freshened up on what has changed about programming for the platform and decided to write TotTap. Aunt Courtney (“Aunt Kit” to Adalyn) had a really cute “toddler lock” app that she used to let Adalyn play with on her Android phone. It was great because it was basically a blank canvas that when you tap the screen a random shape appears to different sounds. It was the perfect little app to hand your toddler when they wanted to see your phone. I searched the iTunes store for something similar but didn’t find one. So, I wrote my own. I thought it would be a great first app to try and code. Well, after about a week of coding and testing, I finally submitted it to the App store. Within a few days it was approved. Admittedly, it’s a very…simple App. But Adalyn seems to like it and hopefully someone else will find it handy too. Anyway, check it out if you have an iPhone. Happy New Year everybody! We’ve been busy around here trying to get our schedule in order. It’s back to work for me starting tomorrow so Kayla will have her hands full until she goes back in February. Hunter is still getting up about every three hours but every now and then he’ll surprise us with a longer sleep stint. Speaking of Hunter, it sure is fun to relive all the “firsts” again. Hunter has started cooing and smiling and just melting our hearts all over the place. Adalyn is doing good too. I think she’s still going through all the presents she received from family this Christmas. Good times! Be sure to check out the picture of Hunter below. I took a similar one of Adalyn here.
